Ocean County Jail Roster Overview
The official Ocean County Inmate Lookup Tool is the main public search route for adult custody at Ocean County Jail. The county inmate-information page calls it a searchable database of currently incarcerated inmates, and the tool itself showed free public access during research. It is the right starting point for pretrial detainees, local jail sentences, county holds, and people waiting for transfer from the jail.
The roster is not a statewide prison locator, federal prison locator, or immigration detention database. Ocean County defendants who move into NJDOC custody are searched through NJDOC. Federal prisoners are searched through BOP after federal commitment, and immigration detainees are searched through ICE. Use the Ocean County Inmate Roster
The roster has two search routes. The name route accepts first name, last name, and date of birth. Read Ocean County Inmate Results
The result grid showed name, booking number, permanent ID, date of birth, and release date. The page text tells users to click a row to access the inmate profile. A blank release date can signal that the person is still in custody, while released records may show a release date when the checkbox is used. The tool did not publish a roster refresh rate or a released-record retention period.
The public profile is the richer record. It loads after a result-row click and showed a booking photo in the inspected sample. Because the profile is session-based, users should copy needed identifiers from the result grid before leaving the search session. Those identifiers can help with the jail information line, court searches, or a records request.
Ocean County Inmate Profile Fields
An Ocean County inmate profile can show custody details, identity details, and case-linked details in separate areas. The profile is useful, but it is not the final court record. Charges can change after prosecutor review, bond rows can show dismissed or inactive matters, and release dates can change when another agency has a hold.

Ocean County Jail Visiting Records
Visitation information matters because a roster hit only confirms a person may be in custody. Visits require approval, scheduling, ID, and rule compliance. Video visits require preregistration in the jail lobby or through the county video-visitation site, followed by a 48-hour processing period before the first visit can be scheduled.

Ocean County Booking Record Timing
Ocean County's organization material gives a clear reason why a new arrest may not appear right away. Booking staff review commitment documents, conduct searches, enter data into the Ocean County Offender Management System, fingerprint and photograph the person, inventory property, and arrange medical screening. Classification then helps determine housing and custody level. Until those steps are far enough along, a public roster search may miss a person who was recently arrested.
Release can also take time after a court event. Before release, booking staff review the commitment file to make sure all matters were legally discharged. If another county, state, federal, parole, probation, or immigration agency has a valid hold, staff may need to contact that agency before the person leaves Ocean County custody. That is why a bond row, dismissal, or projected release date should be confirmed with the jail when timing matters.
